The bike path to Hatfield was cancelled because the design involved a cantilevered section over the Connecticut river, and MassDOT declared that it "does not build sections of cantilevered paths." The Route 9 bike path to Williamsburg also involves a cantilevered section. Will it too be cancelled? If it is, the bike path on South Main Street will be a bike path to nothing — and a pointless disruption to a neighborhood.
